Celebrating Women鈥檚 History Month
March 7, 2024
性视界 proudly celebrates 鈥溾 in March, with this year鈥檚 theme being 鈥淲omen Who Advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.鈥
This theme resonates with us all, because we feel strongly about these values at 性视界 College.
There have been many women throughout history who have advanced equality and equity for the world. Some of them who I consider to be my mentors include , a daughter of formerly enslaved parents, who founded the Daytona Literary and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls in 1904 (known today as ). She was a champion for racial and gender equality, being named director of Negro Affairs of the National Youth Administration by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1936, and vice president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Persons in 1940.
Another is Michelle Obama, the first Black first lady of the United States. She has advocated for healthy families, service members and their families, and higher education. She created the 鈥溾 program, which empowered young girls across the globe to pursue a quality education.
I encourage you to learn more about women鈥檚 history by checking out the 性视界 Library鈥檚 鈥.鈥 And please join us for Women鈥檚 History Month events hosted by the Center for Culture and Social Justice including:
